Congratulations for planning on getting married in The Hague! Let's start by finding you the perfect spot to do it!

I am super excited to share my personal top of the best wedding venues in The Hague. From the beach to the historical city centre, from modern, industrial and relaxed to elegant, refined and glamorous, there is truth to the Dutch saying that "you work in Rotterdam, have fun in Amsterdam and live in Den Haag". This city I've been calling home for quite a few years has it all! Although I travel all over the country for weddings and have previously compiled a list of the best wedding venues in the Netherlands, I'm now hoping to contribute my local knowledge of the best places to organise your wedding in The Hague and surroundings!

I am Theo Manusaride, a wedding photographer in The Hague with over 15 years of experience photographing more than 400 weddings at almost just as many wedding venues and I know very well both what makes for a great experience and what to avoid.

Obviously these are not the only top wedding venues in The Hague, if you know a couple I've missed get it touch. If you have any questions or are looking to book a wedding photographer in The Hague, I would love to hear from you!

Beach wedding in The Hague: Strandclub Naturel, Scheveningen

Outdoor wedding setting at Strandclub Naturel in Scheveningen

At Strandclub Naturel, at the end of Scheveningen beach you will find an atmosphere of serene tranquillity, quiet beauty, and subdued class. The remote location away from busy crowds makes Naturel an oasis of ease and simplicity: the best place for a beach wedding in The Hague in my opinion. What makes it special:

  • Point 1: secluded beach location, away from the busy and touristic Scheveningen
  • Point 2: both outside and inside areas, perfect for an elegant but relaxed beach wedding that's prepare for bad weather as well
  • Point 3: they offer wedding planning services and decorations that complement the venue beautifully

My Experience:  The staff is very prompt and nice, the atmosphere is relaxed and the setting is charming, simple yet thought through. The food is really good which is quite rare at beach clubs and the location is far enough from the busy crowds to let you enjoy the beach and your day in somewhat privacy.

Moments from a summer wedding at Landgoed Te Werve in Rijswijk

Landgoed Te Werve is located in a protected nature park of 26 hectares in Rijswijk near The Hague. The earliest resident apparently lived there around 1260, with changes made to the picturesque estate in the 19th century and a complete restoration done in 2012. This English looking estate and orangerie (yes, there’s one there!) is full of old charm and style. With options for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies, you can get married there any time of the year.

What makes it special:

  • Point 1: Te Werve was named most popular location in South Holland in 2022
  • Point 2: Great heritage location with contemporary design
  • Point 3: Available for both outdoor and indoor weddings in The Hague, a separate location for events next to the lake and amazing nature you can enjoy and explore during your photoshoot

My Experience: I might be biased because I live right next to Te Werve and visit it very often, but I think it is indeed one of the best wedding venues in The Netherlands! The food is very good, the staff is always helpful, the building is well preserved and the estate is gorgeous.

Haags Hoog is located on the roof of The New Farm, with phenomenal views over our beautiful city of The Hague. A tasting room, a conservatory and a greenhouse are part of the location on the 6th and 7th floors of this industrial building. Probably one of the most unique and coolest spots to have a wedding in The Hague, Haags Hoog is located between creative and local entrepreneurs. For example, the coffee roaster and the Eiber beer brewery can also be found on the 6th floor of the building.

What makes it special:

  • Point 1: Gorgeous greenhouse/industrial design, combining both the urban with modern furniture and the natural with wooden floors and natural plants in one place
  • Point 2: Various unique spaces both inside with a tasting room and the (heated) greenhouse and outside with a gorgeous balcony, ready to host up to 150 people
  • Point 3: The venue works with various caterers and local producers which gives you plenty of options and diversity in terms of the menu

A fresh restaurant in combination with an edible garden, operated in a responsible manner, the restaurant serves fresh local and seasonal dishes made exclusively in their artisanal kitchen. Romantic wedding at a castle: Kasteel de Wittenburg, Wassenaar

The history of Kasteel de Wittenburg begins in the spring of 1899. The castle was designed by architect J.J. van Nieukerken yet the construction of the monumental building was only finally finished in 1901, and Kasteel de Wittenburg was born. The elegant castle exudes traditional, courteous and a fairytale atmosphere.

What makes it special:

  • Point 1: Kasteel de Wittenburg  offers 11 spaces, both indoors and outdoors, like the glass conservatory that open towards the castle outdoor spaces and pond, hotel rooms and beautiful gardens.

  • Point 3: It is considered to be the second most sought after wedding venue in South Holland which stand proof of the quality of service and total experience they offer.

My Experience:  The surroundings, exterior architecture and interior atmosphere are movie like to say the least. If you've dreamt of a fairytale wedding at a castle this is the spot for you. The staff are professional, the food is great and there is always room for discussing the menu, beverages and customising everything to bring a personal touch to your event.

Industrial venue in an old factory: Saturn at The Bink

Saturnus is an old factory hall transformed into a unique, industrial event location. The authentic roof, the bar made from an old shipping container, the vintage furniture, surprising wall painting and the generous light make Saturn a location like no other! The menu is designed to be seasonal, locally sourced and “no waste”, so sustainability plays an important role at this wedding venue in The Hague.

What makes it special:

  • Point 2: Saturn is a beautiful and authentic wedding venue as it is, so there’s no need to invest too much extra in decorations if you don’t want to
  • Point 3: The staff are hospitality specialists who have a lot of experience crafting contemporary events and original concepts

Wedding venue in the city centre with a gorgeous garden: Het Nutshuis

Monumental and contemporary. Local and international. The building's rich history and magnificent garden right in the centre of The Hague, next to De Oude Kerk, makes for a memorable event. No one had any idea how beautiful Het Nutshuis, especially the Bankhal, from 1921 was when a thorough renovation of the building started eighty years later. Original details that had disappeared over the years under suspended ceilings and behind false walls emerged and were restored to their former glory. Local art and society were the subject of debates, lectures, exhibitions, workshops, films and music. Students from the Royal Academy of Art and young artists meet at Het Nutshuis now and make the place more vibrant than ever.

What makes it special:

  • Point 1: Het Nutshuis offers eleven unique rooms. Whether you choose the stately Commissarissenzaal, the functional Spaarkamer, the trendy Kas in the garden or the authentic Filmkluis – every room in Het Nutshuis tells a story.
  • Point 2: The colonies of bees provide honey, Café Soof cooks with the herbs and vegetables it grows in its vegetable patch, and the modern facilities makes this a sustainable location
  • Point 3: The garden at Het Nutshuis is one of the most beautiful in The Hague and can comfortably host a wedding dinner outdoors

My Experience: I have found this wedding venue in The Hague wonderfully maintained and having so much to offer. The garden is beautiful and perfect for a photoshoot on the day as well as hosting an outdoors dinner. The atmosphere of the interiors and the rich history give a lot of character and a perfect spot for your ceremony and the central location makes it the perfect venue if you're planning a ceremony at de Oude Stadhuis in Den Haag, just across the street.

A five star experience fit for kings and queens: Hotel Des Indes

This palace was built in 1858 on the distinguished Lange Voorhout, complete with a magnificent, luxurious and opulent décor. The building became Hotel Des Indes in 1881, and has been hosting exclusive galas and banquets ever since. Over 140 years later, Hotel Des Indes is still the epitome of Hague elegance and grandeur with a guest book that includes the illustrious names of kings, emperors, maharajas, movie stars and presidents.

What makes it special:

  • Point 1: If you're envisioning a royal treatment on your wedding day, this is the place to be with actual kings and queens having chosen Hotel Des Indes for their private events
  • Point 2: Located on Lange Voorhout, this wedding venue is right in the centre and provides a 5* experience as an official wedding venue in The Hague
  • Point 3: Hotel Des Indes is part of independent group "The Leading Hotels of the World" which brings together hotels that are uniquely situated, have distinctive architecture, stunning design and an exceptionally high standard of service, luxury and comfort. They represent the cultural essence of their destination and embody the atmosphere of the town that they are located in. Can't get better than that!
